Music Club
Spring Semester: Fridays 12:00-12:30 (1 time a month)
August
We will be learning about French composer Camille Saint Saens and his work Carnival of the Animals. This famous piece was written so that each movement (14) represents a different animal. We will discuss those animals, the instruments chosen to represent them, and listen to a portion of the movement. There are many picture book versions out there if you want to listen ahead of time to the 25 min work, but do know that in some versions the word for donkey is not donkey but rather a**, so you have been warned! We will be using a donkey version in class.

We will be learning about the the Royal Fanfare Trumpeters at Buckingham Palace. From this, we will learn more about the evolution of the trumpet and how it became to look the way it does today. Students can write a mini fanfare and then take turns playing on my straight trumpet which is similar to the kind the Royal Fanfare Trumpeters use.
