Terra Hunsicker M.M.Ed.

    

Hello, I’m Terra, an experienced and dedicated teacher with a passion for helping students of all ages discover their strengths, build confidence, and reach their educational goals. With over 20 years in the field, I’ve had the privilege of working with countless students, families, and educational organizations, supporting learning both inside and outside the classroom.

 

My journey began with a deep love of learning at home. I started piano lessons at age five, picked up the clarinet in fourth grade, and grew up in a family of educators—my father a band director, my mother an English and science teacher. I earned my Master’s in Music Education from Kent State University, and over the years, I’ve expanded my teaching to include language arts, science, Spanish, and interdisciplinary courses that connect the arts with academics.

 

I have also worked extensively with neuro-diverse learners, both in the public school system and in homeschooling environments. One of the public schools I taught at was a hub for neuro-diverse students, giving me valuable experience in adapting lessons, communication, and classroom structures to meet a wide range of learning needs.

 

This wide-ranging background, combined with experience in both the public school system and the homeschooling community, allows me to offer personalized, flexible instruction that meets the unique needs of each learner. Whether it’s preparing for a performance, mastering a new skill, tackling a challenging subject, or exploring creative connections between disciplines, I strive to make learning engaging, relevant, and fun.

 

Central to my teaching philosophy is a student-centered approach. I take the time to get to know each student’s interests, goals, and learning style, building lessons that encourage curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking. I want every learner to feel supported, valued, and empowered to take ownership of their growth—whether in music, academics, or both.
